Trump signs deal to end historic 43-day US government shutdown

The longest government shutdown in US history has come to an end after 43 days. President Donald Trump signed a spending bill, setting the stage for the resumption of key services until Jan 30 next year. He said the bill sends a clear message that the Republicans will never give in to what he calls "extortion". The House of Representatives passed the package with 222 votes for and 209 against.
