US Treasury chief discusses new tariff regime with Beijing as Trump warns he may delay China visit
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is optimistic about trade talks with Beijing taking place in Paris. This, ahead of an expected visit by US President Donald Trump to China later this month. Mr Bessent said officials discussed a new tariff regime that pursues "strategic change", adding that Washington has no plans to decouple from Beijing. Both countries previously declared a truce, preventing both sides from levying duelling tariffs.
