Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: Eileen Chong on PSLE
In parliament on Monday (Mar 2), NCMP Eileen Chong welcomed the "long-overdue" review of Singapore’s education system and reiterated the Workers’ Party call to make the Primary School Leaving Examination optional. She elaborated that doing so would free up months of curriculum time currently consumed by exam preparation, and give students more time and space to develop genuine strengths, deeper interest in subjects and also 21st-century core competencies.
