Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: Elysa Chen on economic regionalisation for Singapore

01:57 Min

If Singapore is to remain a gateway to ASEAN, it must not only host regional headquarters but also raise a generation of Singaporeans ready to lead beyond the country, said MP Elysa Chen. Speaking in parliament on Monday (Mar 2), she wanted to know how the government plans to build capacity in three areas. These are increasing international firms’ readiness to appoint Singaporeans to regional roles, strengthening business leaders’ ability to operate in diverse markets and encouraging Singaporeans to relocate for regional opportunities.
