Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 3: Tin Pei Ling on Singapore's energy strategy

03:28 Min

Singapore's energy strategy has always been shaped by three structural realities - its lack of natural resources, land constraints and having to depend almost entirely on imported energy. But its strategy must continue to evolve in the face of rising geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain fragmentation and intensifying climate pressures, said MP Tin Pei Ling in parliament on Monday (Mar 2). She posed several questions to the Ministry of Trade and Industry on five areas - including energy security, supporting Singapore’s national AI push, and carbon pricing and competitiveness.
