Mariam Jaafar on Workplace Fairness (Dispute Resolution) Bill
The Workplace Fairness (Dispute Resolution) Bill does not just settle disputes - it strengthens Singapore’s compact as a society, said MP Mariam Jaafar. “It says to every worker, you will be judged by what you contribute, not by who you are or where you come from. And it says to every employer, you will be treated fairly and given a clear process when disputes arise,” she said in parliament on Tuesday (Nov 4). This balance between protection and partnership has made Singapore work and if this balance remains strong, every Singaporean can look at the system and say it is fair and it works, she added.
