Valerie Lee on Singapore Sports Council (Amendment) Bill
The amendments to the Singapore Sports Council Act update the legislative framework to better reflect the current sporting environment, said MP Valerie Lee. Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13), she pointed out that they clarify the role of Sport Singapore, strengthen governance and recognise a wider range of sporting activities, while continuing to support both high performance sport and mass participation. Ms Lee stressed the need to understand that the expanded definition of sport is complementary and not a departure from the continued support for traditional physical sports.
