Poh Li San on Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill

It is important that “we do what is right for the environment”, especially at this time of threatened energy supplies, said MP Poh Li San. Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Apr 7), she said the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill could not have been more timely. Overall, there will soon be more efficient appliances on the market because end users will care about upfront capital expenses and recurring electricity costs and have more choices and savings from energy-efficient models. Ms Poh also sought clarifications on the bill. She wanted to know how much energy consumption would be reduced and whether the National Environment Agency intends to police and enforce the new requirements.
