Singapore should not speculate on the basis for or outcomes of the ongoing US investigation into alleged excess industrial capacity, and it would be premature to comment on the potential impact on its export sectors or workers at this juncture. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang, who said this in reply to parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Apr 7), pointed out the government will continue to engage the US constructively and will provide updates when they are ready. The Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce will continue to gather feedback on how businesses and workers will be affected and address specific concerns as they arise, she added.
