Motion: Mariam Jaafar on an economy of the future that works for all

Singapore’s strength has never come from any one source alone; it comes from strengthening the connections between them, said MP Mariam Jaafar. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Aug 5), she pointed out that dynamic local companies and global enterprises, domestic demand and external demand, and Singaporeans and Singaporeans’ capital venturing confidently into the world are complementary strengths, working together to lift ordinary Singaporeans. She stressed that the task now is to continue to build an economy of the future, where each reinforces the other and make sure that more Singaporeans have the capability, confidence and opportunity to shape the future.
