10:25 Min

The Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill ensures that substances can no longer hide in the shadows of regulatory framework, said MP Wan Rizal. Speaking in parliament on Friday (Mar 6), he sought clarification on how enforcement agencies intend to operationalise the strengthened provisions in increasingly complex supply environments. He highlighted that as enforcement strengthens, potentially increasing the number of persons subject to rehabilitation orders, the government must ensure adequate capacity. Given the rapid evolution of synthetic psychoactive substances, he also urged the Ministry of Health to consider a formal review of the Part 3A framework within three to five years of implementation.
