What happens if Thai opposition Move Forward Party is dissolved?

05:00 Min

Thailand's Constitutional Court is set to decide tomorrow whether to dissolve the opposition Move Forward Party over a campaign promise to amend a controversial royal defamation law. Move Forward unexpectedly won the most seats in the 2023 general elections. Its leader, 43-year-old Pita Limjaroenrat, was set to lead Thailand. A joint-parliament vote denied Pita the premiership and Move Forward the right to form the government. Since Thailand became a constitutional monarchy in 1932, a total of 33 political parties have been banned. Saksith Saiyasombut reports.
