White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development: Yeo Wan Ling on championing women in the workplace

11:28 Min

The labour movement will press on with efforts to champion women in the workplace. It has identified "multiple significant challenges" that women continually face as they pursue their career aspirations, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 5), she said the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) believes that one’s gender should never be an obstacle or hindrance in the workforce and will make every effort to provide opportunities for women. Apart from developing favourable policies which elevate women in the workforce, the labour movement sees the pertinent need to widen the field for women by re-imagining and refreshing career choices. Besides creating opportunities and providing support for women to enter and re-enter the workforce, the NTUC will enhance measures to protect women from workforce harassment and discrimination.
