Yeo Wan Ling on Platform Workers Bill
The time has come for platform workers to forge their own collective agreement so that their voices are heard, working conditions improved and grievances addressed in a timely and fair manner, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 9), she stressed the need to address their housing adequacy worries by getting platform operators to pay their fair share of CPF contributions. Platform workers must be covered adequately by accident and loss of income insurance, she added. Ms Yeo said NTUC cares deeply for platform workers and will continue to champion their interests. Ms Yeo also sought clarifications on the Platform Workers Bill. She wanted to know how the Government would ensure that platform workers are paid fairly for a sustainable livelihood. She also wanted to know how the Government would ensure that platform companies contribute fairly to CPF and insurance without passing on the costs to workers and consumers.
