Yip Hon Weng on Gambling Control Bill and Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore Bill

Youths, young children and seniors are increasingly susceptible to the "insidious" nature of modern and emerging forms of gambling enabled by technology, said MP Yip Hon Weng in Parliament on Friday (Mar 11). He stressed that Singapore's regulatory approach towards gambling must be "up to date" and "forward-looking". Mr Yip also asked how the merging of different regulatory bodies will be conducted, and how the consolidation of gambling control measures will impact the management of remote gambling. He also wanted to know how updated advertising and promotion laws will apply to activities with optional gambling elements, such as mobile games with mystery boxes.
