Manufacturers are navigating a period of transformation, fuelled by the need to build sustainable supply chains capable of withstanding disruptions such as pandemics, natural disasters and geopolitical tensions.

Cutting-edge Industry 4.0 solutions – powered by technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and big-data analytics – are emerging as vital tools, enhancing decision-making, transparency and collaboration across supply chains. In addition, by leveraging advanced technologies, organisations can improve real-time information flow and resource management, boosting waste management and recycling processes.

A CATALYST FOR GROWTH

Alat plans to leverage Saudi Arabia's robust solar energy capacity to advance the adoption of sustainable business practices in the manufacturing sector.

To capitalise on the Industry 4.0 revolution, manufacturers need to build long-term relationships with like-minded partners, which will empower them to surmount challenges like the significant capital outlay required for digital transformation.

Riyadh-headquartered investment firm Alat is forging strategic partnerships with leading global companies as part of its mission to establish Saudi Arabia as a global hub for advanced, sustainable manufacturing.

“We want this to be the start of a gamechanger for manufacturing around the world,” said Mr Amit Midha, CEO of Alat.

Founded with a US$100 billion (S$136 billion) investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Alat functions as an enabler for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy. The latter seeks to diversify the country’s industrial base, boost non-oil exports, attract foreign investors and propel investments in innovation and research.

Alat aims to advance the adoption of sustainable business practices in the manufacturing sector by leveraging Saudi Arabia’s robust solar energy capacity and US$266 billion investment in clean energy. This approach not only enables the powering of manufacturing facilities with renewable energy resources, but also fosters sustainable practices through knowledge transfer and research.

FORGING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Based in Riyadh, Alat is an ideal partner for global businesses seeking resilient supply chains and nearshoring opportunities.

Located at the crossroads of three continents, Saudi Arabia is strategically positioned to become a global logistics hub that can streamline global distribution channels, reduce transportation costs and times, and improve the efficiency and reliability of supply chain operations.

Alat, with its base in Riyadh, makes an ideal partner for global businesses seeking resilient supply chains or nearshoring opportunities. At Alat’s launch in February 2024, the company announced several long-term partnerships with global corporations.

In collaboration with technology investment firm Softbank Group, Alat plans to establish an industrial automation venture in cutting-edge industrial robotics technologies. The partnership includes a joint investment of up to US$150 million to build an automated manufacturing and engineering centre in Saudi Arabia.

Alat is also working with Dahua Technology to develop AI-powered safety and surveillance video solutions. “We have great ambitions to take intelligent cities and smart enterprise solutions, made in the Kingdom, to both local and international markets,” said Mr Midha.

Meanwhile, Alat’s alliance with Saudi Technology and Security Comprehensive Control Company (Tahakom) is set to bring about advancements in smart mobility solutions, with a focus on road and public safety.

Through these partnerships, Alat is spearheading innovation and modernisation in Saudi Arabia, creating new opportunities for local and international partners alike. “The vision for Alat is to be the partner for companies seeking a cleaner and more efficient path for technology, innovation and manufacturing,” said Mr Midha.
