BANGKOK : Thailand's headline consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.35 per cent in August from a year earlier, after the previous month's annual increase of 0.83 per cent, the commerce ministry said on Thursday.

The figure was compared with a forecast rise of 0.40 per cent in a Reuters poll, and was below the central bank's target range of 1 per cent to 3 per cent.

The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, was up 0.62 per cent in August from a year earlier.
