In ‘Destination Anywhere’, Melanie Oliveiro finds out what’s new and exciting at River Hongbao 2026, one of the most anticipated Chinese New Year events. Held at Gardens by the Bay from 15-24 February, River Hongbao 2026 organising committee member Pok Cheng Chong will describe how the celebrations will last for 10 nights – showcasing lantern displays, live performances, and family-friendly programmes. Pok will also talk about a major highlight this year, which is four nights of fireworks at The Meadow. He’ll then discuss the special thematic night performances, including Getai, Xinyao and S-POP nights.

Warren Sheldon Humphries was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in 2020, when he was in his early fifties. It's a neurological condition that eventually took away his ability to walk and even hold a pen. Amidst the emotional turmoil, he was contemplating ending it all when a close friend called him out of the blue. The unexpectedly firm conversation was a turning point that led him to seek mental health support and gave him a newfound sense of purpose. Sheldon is today an advocate for fellow persons with disabilities, a paracounsellor, docent at the Enabling Village, and a Community and Partnerships Manager with a social enterprise.
