In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with the vocalist-guitarist and drummer from motifs, a 5-member shoegaze and alternative rock band from Singapore. Elspeth Ong and Jolin Chiam will discuss their EP “If This House Was Bigger” which explores themes like early adulthood, emotional distance and longing. They’ll also recall their experiences recording the EP, over the course of 10 days, in Iceland. Ong and Chiam will also discuss the songs “Aug 16” and “Maybe in Another Dream” which address topics like loss, memory and inheritance.
