CNA938 Rewind - How Real People Shaped Two New Singapore Children’s Books
In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with two local children’s book authors Emily Lim-Leh and Pauline Loh. They’ll talk about their newly released titles “Giant Clam Calamity” and “Little Hero's Wish (Book 2)”. “Giant Clam Calamity” follows the adventures of two children in Singapore who come up close with an endangered giant clam during an inter-tidal walk with their Aunt Mui. “Little Hero’s Wish” – a sequel to Little Hero – is about Ying Xiong who finds it hard to navigate his troubled growing-up years in 1950s Singapore but eventually discovers what it means to be a real hero. Both authors will talk about the real people who inspired both books - marine ecologist Dr Neo Mei Lin and Lim-Leh’s father.
