CNA938 Rewind - MOM Budget 2026: Bigger pay floor for local workers, stronger support for local wages

Starting July 1, Singapore will increase the Local Qualifying Salary (LQS) for full-time local employees from S$1,600 to S$1,800 – affecting firms that hire foreign workers and strengthening support for local wages under Budget 2026. Meanwhile, to help cushion employers from higher wage costs, the Government is also enhancing support schemes such as the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme by increasing co-funding support.
