CNA938 Rewind - Myanmar votes as military holds first election since coup
Polls have opened in Myanmar’s first general election since the country’s military toppled Aung San Suu Kyi’s democratically elected government in a 2021 coup. The heavily restricted election is taking place in about a third of the nation’s 330 townships, with large areas inaccessible amid a raging civil war between the military and an array of opposition forces. Andrea Heng and Hairianto Diman speak with CNA's Senior Correspondent Leong Wai Kit, and Christopher Lamb, immediate past president, Australia Myanmar Institute; Australian Ambassador to Myanmar (1986-1989); Honorary Associate Professor, University of Melbourne, to find out more.
