In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with historical fiction author Emma Pei Yin who wrote the novel, “When Sleeping Women Wake”, recently longlisted for the 2025 ARA Historical Novel Prize.  She’ll discuss the main characters in her debut book - three extraordinary women: a mother, her daughter, and their maid, who are each forced on a journey to survival during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in World War II. The UK-born Australian author will also talk about how the novel was inspired by her grandfather’s wartime experiences.
