A recent study by Stroke Support Station (S3) found that only about 40 % of people in Singapore knew to call an ambulance when encountering someone having a stroke, despite high awareness of stroke symptoms. Meanwhile, stroke incidence in Singapore has risen sharply: from nearly 6,000 cases in 2010 to about 9,700 cases in 2022. More Singaporean mothers are opting for confinement centres in Johor Bahru, drawn by lower costs and resort-like amenities compared to similar facilities in Singapore.
