Just weeks after the US Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s global tariffs, Washington has launched two new trade probes that could reshape global supply chains. One targets 16 economies over manufacturing excess capacity, while a second, broader investigation looks at 60 economies over goods allegedly produced with forced labour. Could they lead to a new wave of tariffs or import bans? Or are they mainly leverage in negotiations?
