The Thai fishing industry employs more than 800,000 people, many of whom are trafficked migrants who face starvation, death and murder at sea. Since 2015, the Thai government has taken steps to crack down on forced labour practices, but loopholes and corruption undermine efforts,  and observers like the International Labour Organization say there’s still work to be done.
