03 Jun 2017 10:29am
With tensions rising between North Korea and the world, here’s what life is like for China’s ethnic Koreans living – literally – a stone’s throw across the river. Watch the full episode of #ThisSideOfTheBorder here.
About the Show

Koreans are one of the fifty-six ethnic groups in China. A good number of them live in the northeastern part of China, right at the border with North Korea. With tensions rising between the two long-time allies, what is life like in the border regions? Has the North Korean missile and nuclear tests raised fears? Do the residents’ Korean roots and ties affect how they see the threat of conflict? Jeremy Koh, CNA’s China correspondent, makes a trip to the Changbai Korean Autonomous County in Jilin Province to see the human impact of the deteriorating relations.
