Swiss watchmaker Rolex refreshes all-time favourite timepieces with new dials
The Datejust 36 and the Cosmograph Daytona just got a whole lot more fun.

When it comes to wait list-worthy desirability and patent earning power, Rolex has already more than proven itself — so much so that the brand can afford to get away with nothing but cosmetic updates for its 2021 Watches & Wonders novelties.Â
Not that we’re complaining, of course, because one can never have too many options for the obscenely popular Datejust 36 and Cosmograph Daytona.
There are four new references for the Datejust 36. The trendiest of the lot is Rolex’s answer to the green-dialled craze: an Oystersteel model with a face etched with olive green palm leaves, and comes fitted with an Oyster bracelet.Â
There are two additional models that share the leaf motif: One with a golden dial to match the yellow Rolesor (bi-metallic Oystersteel and 18KÂ yellow gold) theme, and another with a silver dial in Everose Rolesor (steel and rose gold) which, unlike the other two, comes with the five-link Jubilee bracelet.
The fourth version of the Datejust 36 features a fluted motif on a golden dial in yellow Rolesor, and is paired with a Jubilee bracelet.
All of them are equipped with the Calibre 3235, which has been powering the Datejust 36 collection since 2018. The automatic movement is packed with Rolex innovations, such as the anti-magnetic Chronergy escapement and blue Parachrom hairspring with Rolex overcoil, as well as Paraflex shock absorbers. It will easily tide you over the weekend with its 70-hour power reserve.
The Cosmograph Daytona takes inspiration a little further from home, with three new references showing off meteorite dials. The exotic material is appropriately matched with precious metals, in white, yellow and Everose gold respectively.Â
While all of them feature the same black chronograph counters, the white gold model has a black Cerachrom bezel (Rolex’s scratch- and corrosion-proof high-tech ceramic) and a black rubber strap, while the yellow and Everose models have metal bezels and Oyster bracelets.
Ticking away inside them is the reliable Calibre 4130, first introduced in 2000 with a column wheel and vertical clutch, ultra precise blue Parachrom hairspring with Rolex overcoil, and a power reserve of 72 hours.
