12 people to be charged with breaching safe distancing measures for group outing to Lazarus Island
SINGAPORE — Twelve people will be charged in court on Friday (Oct 2) with breaching safe distancing measures.
The group had allegedly visited Lazarus Island together on Aug 8. The individuals will be charged for violating the prohibition on social gatherings with more than four other persons not staying in the same place of residence.
The charges were filed against them by the Singapore Land Authority.
Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020, first-time offenders face a fine of up to S$10,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both. Subsequent offenders may face a fine of up to S$20,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months or both.
