86-year-old woman is S’pore’s 18th Covid-19 fatality; 6 new clusters identified

SINGAPORE — An 86-year-old Singaporean woman died on Sunday (May 3) from complications due to Covid-19, the 18th such fatality here.
The woman — identified as Case 14,744 — was confirmed to have the infection on April 27, and had a history of diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a statement on Sunday.
“Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them,” MOH said.
Separately, the health ministry said that the death of a 47-year-old Bangladeshi man — identified as Case 17,410 — on Friday was due to ischaemic heart disease
Earlier, the MOH said that there were 657 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases here to 18,205.
In its update, MOH also identified six new clusters of infections. They are NCS Hub (5 Ang Mo Kio Street 62), 16 Fan Yoong Road, 15 Gul Way, 23 Sungei Kadut Street 2, 9A Tech Park Crescent and 64 Woodlands Industrial Park E9.
Of the 657 new infections, 13 were cases in the community. Ten of those cases involved Singaporeans or permanent residents and three were work pass holders.
Of the remaining cases, 18 were linked to foreign workers residing outside the dormitories and 626 infections were linked to those living in the dormitories.
There were no imported cases on Sunday.
