Boon Lay Place Food Village closed till Aug 6 after 7 Covid-19 cases found: MOH
SINGAPORE — The Boon Lay Place Food Village will be closed for two weeks from Friday (July 23) to Aug 6 after seven patients infected by the coronavirus were detected among people who worked at or visited the hawker centre.
In its evening update on the coronavirus situation here on Thursday, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the closure is to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises at 221B Boon Lay Place.
MOH will extend free Covid-19 testing to members of the public who have visited the Boon Lay Place Food Village — as well as the Chong Pang Market and Food Centre in Yishun — between July 8 and 22 in order to “uncover any community infection cases”.

On Thursday, there were 162 new locally transmitted cases of Covid-19, 87 of which have been traced to the cluster at the Jurong Fishery Port and another five to the cluster of karaoke lounges and clubs.
The 162 were among a total of 170 new cases for the day.
Singapore’s total number of Covid-19 cases is now 63,791.
