SINGAPORE — A 33-year-old Certis Cisco officer was killed on Friday morning (Feb 10) after he was knocked down by a car while on duty at the Tuas Checkpoint.
TODAY understands that Lance Corporal (Auxiliary Police Force) Norman Samri, together with two other colleagues, had been diverting traffic along the departure viaduct of the checkpoint when the accident happened at around 2.30am.
A 28-year-old male driver was arrested for causing death by rash act, and investigations are ongoing.
The driver was allegedly speeding and swerving on the road at the time, TODAY understands.
LCP Norman and his colleagues were believed to have attempted to jump out of the way of the vehicle. However LCP Norman could not avoid the car in time and was hit.
He was conveyed conscious to the National University Hospital but later died of head injuries.
In a statement on its website, Certis Cisco said it deeply regretted the death of LCP Norman.
“We will be providing assistance and support to the bereaved family,” the company said.
