Circles.Life pledges cheapest handset prices with new no-contract phone and mobile plan combo
SINGAPORE — In its most aggressive bid to date to gain market share here, Circles.Life has announced a new zero contract mobile plan as the telco war heats up.
Launched on Monday (Sept 17), the mobile virtual network operator bundles a phone together with the plan, in a bid to put premium phones from Apple and Samsung within reach for more users.
Called the +Phone Plan, this allows customers who would rather pay for a phone in installments to bundle the device together with a no-contract mobile plan.
Circles.Life, which leases its mobile network capacity from M1, also claims that its latest postpaid plan for its customers will offer one of the cheapest overall handset prices over a 24-month period.
Excluding the add-ons, this works out to a total of S$1,820 over a two year period – the minimum contract length of its main competitors StarHub and Singtel.
In comparison, StarHub customers would be required to pay S$174 upfront and a subsequent S$68 monthly fee for a 4GB Unlimited Weekend data plan, while Singtel customers will have to pay S$428 upfront and S$68.90 per month for its 3GB Combo 3 data plan. Without add-ons, this comes up to S$1,806 and S$2081.60 respectively over 24 months.
Though StarHub offers a marginally cheaper base price, the operator and Singtel tie the subscriber down with a contract and will impose an early-termination fee should a subscriber halt the service for any reason.
While StarHub does not charge a recovery fee for its mobile device, Singtel does include such a fee over and above its early-termination penalty.
Circles.Life customers who choose to leave prematurely during the 24-month period are only required to settle the outstanding cost of the device.
In addition, if a Circles.Life customer chooses not to change his mobile device once the 24-month period is over and the device is already fully paid for, he can reduce his monthly plan to S$28/month.
