Entry to Sentosa for cars reduced to S$2 during lunchtime, after 5pm on weekends
SINGAPORE — Families planning to drive into Sentosa Island via Sentosa Gateway on weekends during this year-end school holidays will now pay S$2 during lunchtime and after 5pm, as the resort island aims to make it more affordable for visitors who want to spend time there.
The weekend drive-in rates for cars used to be $7 during lunchtime and S$3 after 5pm.
However, those planning to take a taxi in during the weekdays will have to pay a dollar more between 7am and 12pm, as well as between 2pm and 5pm.
In a press release on Monday (Nov 12), the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) said that the island admission fees were revised as part of efforts to “deepen Sentosa’s engagement with the local community”.
The latest changes will be in effect for an initial period of two years, the SDC said, and will complement the simplified car-park charges that was previously rolled out at Beach Station, Imbiah, Tanjong Beach, Palawan Beach and Sentosa Cove Village in August last year.
SDC's assistant chief executive Chin Sak Hin said that with the resort island being a one-stop holiday destination for Singaporeans, such efforts help to enhance "the affordability of (the) island’s experiences".
With the year-end school holidays upon us soon, it is also looking forward to welcoming more guests with the changes in island admission fees.
Visitors who prefer not to pay for admission can still get to Sentosa for free or at lower rates, the SDC said.
Among those could enter the island for free include:
Cyclists
Users of personal mobility devices
Child Concession Card holders entering via the Sentosa Express
Organised school and community groups entering on chartered coaches during weekdays (excluding public holidays)
Guests strolling in via the Sentosa Boardwalk
Guests entering on SBS Transit’s bus 123, who pay only the prevailing distance-based bus fare.
SDC added that island admission rates via the Sentosa Express have also been halved for selected TransitLink Concession Card holders, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, workfare income supplement recipients, as well as primary school, secondary school, junior college and Institute of Technical Education students.
“Once on the island, all guests enjoy free travel on the Sentosa Express, Sentosa buses, and beach trams,” SDC added.
