SINGAPORE — Four suspected illegal immigrants aged between 23 and 39 were arrested in an operation jointly conducted by the Police Coast Guard (PCG) and Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) last Saturday.

In a news release issued on Sunday (May 1), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said that the PCG detected a speedboat in Singapore waters heading towards the shoreline of Tanah Merah on that day at around midnight.

The speedboat was intercepted and the four suspects were arrested, and authorities recovered 532 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes on board.

“We take a very serious view of illegal smuggling activities and will act swiftly in bringing the offenders to justice.”
