Loyang murder suspect brought back to crime scene

SINGAPORE — A 50-year-old man charged with the murder of his wife was brought back to the crime scene in Loyang on Wednesday (Nov 1).
Krishnan Raju, accompanied by police officers, arrived at his home at Loyang Gardens condominium around noon.
Dressed in a red T-shirt and shorts, Krishnan was seen gesturing and answering questions from the officers as they walked up a driveway linked to the building's underground carpark. A forensics team arrived later.
He was charged on Saturday (Oct 28) with the murder of Ms Raithena Vaithena Samy, 44. She is understood to be his wife.
TODAY understands that Krishnan had fled to Malaysia across the Causeway on Friday (Oct 27). But he later returned to Singapore and surrendered to the police at the Woodlands Checkpoint at about 10am on the same day.
The police said they received a call for help at about 12.12am on Friday. Paramedics who arrived at the condominium, located at Jalan Loyang Besar, found Ms Raithena motionless in a bedroom. She was pronounced dead at about about 12.25am.
Today understands that the couple has a son and a daughter in their 20s.
Investigations are ongoing. If convicted of murder, Krishnan faces the death penalty.
