Man charged for stealing six tins of infant milk powder

SINGAPORE — A 24-year-old man was charged with stealing six tins of infant formual milk powder worth S$465.60 from a supermarket on Friday (Nov 3), with more similar counts expected to be pressed against him.
Andika, an Indonesian who goes by one name, allegedly stole the milk powder from an NTUC FairPrice outlet at Block 510 Bishan Street 13 on Wednesday. He is accused of taking off with three 1.6kg tins of PediaSure milk powder valued at S$82.20 each, and three 1.8kg tins of Enfagrow milk powder valued at S$73 each.
Court documents did not state his employment and what led to his arrest.
In a news release on the case on Thursday, police said they arrested a suspect believed to be behind a series of thefts of milk powder from supermarkets since Monday this week.
Andika was remanded for a week to assist in investigations. He will appear in court again on Nov 9.
TODAY understands that more charges will be brought against him.
If found guilty, he can be jailed up to seven years and fined.
