SINGAPORE — An Indian man in his 40s sustained head injuries along the Boat Quay area this afternoon (Jan 31) after he fell from height near an underpass, where a railing is missing its top bar.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to the incident at Upper Circular Road around 1.49pm today. The victim, who was conscious, was subsequently conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.
Speaking to TODAY, Riverwalk Tandoor’s restaurant supervisor Mr Subhasish said the victim had been dining at the restaurant with about 20 others prior to the incident.
After their meal, seven or eight of them, including the victim, decided to take a picture outside the restaurant, he said. The group of them, who had their backs against the metal railings, were standing on elevated ground, with the underpass just below them.
After the man fell, the restaurant staff brought ice and a towel to attend to the victim, who was conscious but bleeding. The ambulance arrived five minutes later, he said.
