SINGAPORE — A recall of Marigold HL Milk products in Malaysia will not affect consumers in Singapore, the local manufacturer Malaysia Dairy Industries (MDI) confirmed on Monday (Oct 17).

Malaysia Milk — the Malaysian counterpart of MDI — had issued on Saturday an immediate recall of its Marigold HL milk from the Malaysian market, following customer feedback that the viscosity, or thickness, of its Marigold HL chocolate milk was higher than usual.

The recall will not affect Singapore because MDI’s milk products sold here are manufactured locally, MDI told TODAY.

In a statement, Malaysia Milk said it is also taking “proactive measures” to recall other products. These include: Marigold HL Chocolate Milk (200ml and 1 litre), Marigold HL Plain Milk (200ml and 1 litre), Marigold HL Strawberry Milk (200ml and 1 litre), and Marigold HL Milk with Plant Sterols (1 litre).

All Marigold HL Milk products expiring before Nov 7 for Peninsular Malaysia and before Nov 11 for the Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan markets are being recalled, it added.

Malaysia Milk also said that its quality control unit and manufacturing team have confirmed the source of the issue, and have rectified it, but it did not elaborate further.

According to its website, MDI has manufacturing facilities in both Singapore and Malaysia.
