Mid-career Singaporeans to get more subsidies for training

SINGAPORE — From next month, all Singaporeans aged 40 and above will be able to receive subsidies when they attend courses supported by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).
Under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy, they will be able to get course fee subsidies of up to 90 per cent from Oct 1, said the WDA today (Sept 21).
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam had earlier announced the scheme in this year’s Budget statement.
More than 8,000 courses will be eligible for the subsidies. In addition, employees under the current Workfare Training Support Scheme will continue to receive 95 per cent funding support for their course fees.
Currently, Singaporeans aged 35 and above can get up to 95 per cent of funding for WDA-endorsed courses, as well as a training allowance, if they earn S$1,900 or less per month.
