Minibus driver arrested for alleged careless driving after motorcycle pillion rider, 26, dies following TPE accident

SINGAPORE — A 54-year-old minibus driver has been arrested for alleged careless driving causing death after a motorcycle pillion rider died following an accident along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) on Monday (Feb 20) morning, the police said.
In response to TODAY's queries, the police added that they were alerted to an accident involving two motorcycles and a minibus along the TPE towards the Pan Island Expressway at 7.59am.
A 29-year-old male motorcyclist was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
However, a 26-year-old woman who was riding pillion with him was unconscious when she was taken to the hospital. She later died, the police said.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force told TODAY that the two persons were taken to Changi General Hospital and that the accident had taken place along TPE before Upper Changi Road North.
The other motorcyclist involved in the accident, a 31-year-old man, is assisting in investigations, the police said.
