SINGAPORE — Car parks at sports facilities around the island will be reviewed for redevelopment if they are under-utilised, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong told Parliament today (Feb 12).
He was replying to questions submitted by Mounbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan and Nominated MP Benedict Tan whether Mr Wong’s ministry would allow free parking at these places to encourage increase use of the sports facilities. Rather than focus only on car owners, the Minister said efforts should be made to see how the whole community can benefit from more facilities.
“If indeed there are car parks are under-utilised, then we should more closely examine whether there is a better use of the car parks and whether they can be converted to other facilities like sports facilities which can benefit more people,” said the Minister.
