SINGAPORE: The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said on Monday (Nov 27) it was investigating a video that appears to show a rat on a tray on a table in an Orchard Road food court.

In the video, which is making its rounds online, the rat is seen on its side on a food tray at Tangs Market, a food court brand under the Fei Siong Group. The food on the tray appears to be uneaten.

The rat then twitches and moves its legs, garnering the attention of a few food court patrons.

It is not known when the video was taken.

In response to CNA's queries on Monday night, the SFA said it was looking into the matter.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices," said the agency.

"SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food operators."

CNA has contacted TANGS Singapore and the Fei Siong Group for more information.
