Registers of electors open for public inspection from March 14 to 27
Singapore citizens who are at least 21 years old as of March 1 this year, and who are not disqualified as an elector under any law, will be allowed to vote.
SINGAPORE — The registers of electors will be open for public inspection from March 14 to 27, the Elections Department said on Friday (March 13) just hours after the release of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee report.
Singapore citizens who are at least 21 years old as of March 1 this year, and who are not disqualified as an elector under any law, will be allowed to vote, the department said in a statement.
They must also have a Singapore residential address on their National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) as of March 1.
Singaporeans may check their particulars:
Online at the voter services section of the Elections Department website
On the SingPass mobile app
At selected community centres and clubs near their homes
At the Elections Department located at 11 Prinsep Link.
They should have their NRIC or passport with them.
During the inspection period, a person can submit requests to include or remove his or her name or to update his or her particulars in the registers.
Persons whose names were removed from the register for failing to vote in a past election may apply to have their names restored to be able to vote in future elections.
The Elections Department encourages these individuals to apply early as under the law, names cannot be restored during the period from the date the writ for an election is issued until after Nomination Day if the election is not contested, or until after Polling Day if a poll is to be taken.
REGISTERING TO VOTE OVERSEAS
Overseas Singaporeans who have resided in Singapore for at least 30 days during the three-year period between March 1, 2017 and Feb 29, 2020 may apply to register as an overseas elector to vote at one of the designated overseas polling stations.
Those who had registered early as overseas electors will need to re-register if they meet the qualifying criteria as of March 1 should they wish to remain as overseas electors.
These individuals can register online at the Elections Department website and should do so by the end of the third day after the writ for an election is issued until after Nomination Day if the election is uncontested, or until after Polling Day if a poll is to be taken.
