SINGAPORE — The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) integrated aerial display team — comprising an F-15SG fighter jet and an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter — will be performing a never-before-seen aerial routine at the Singapore Airshow during the public showcase from Feb 20-21.

The routine is called the “Vertical Punch”: It will see the Apache helicopter pull up to the skies and flip around before meeting the F-15SG jet flying in from the opposite direction. The F‑15SG fighter jet will then proceed to punch through the clouds in a vertical climb, announced the airshow organisers today (Feb 5).

Besides the “Vertical Punch, the two aircrafts will also be performing two more integrated routines and eight solo manoeuvres.

The public can also expect to watch the Republic of Korea Air Force’s Black Eagles Aerobatic Team in action. They were last here in 2014 and are adding three more manoeuvres to their repertoire. Meanwhile, a French Air Force’s Dassault Rafale, the US Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster III and F-16C/D Fighting Falcon, and the Su-30MKM from the Royal Malaysia Air Force will also be doing flybys.

Aerobatic flying displays are scheduled for 10.30am-11.10am on Feb 20 and 2.20pm-3pm on Feb 21. Static aircraft on display include two USAF F-22 stealth fighters, an Airbus A400M, an Airbus H145 and a Bell 505, which will all be appearing at the Singapore Airshow for the first time. The RSAF’s Black Knights’s F-16C aircraft, bearing a crescent and stars livery, will also be there.

Tickets for the air show are now on sale at the Sistic website starting at S$9 for children aged 3-12. Adult tickets are priced at S$22, while visitors can also purchase a group package (consisting four entry tickets and a carpark label for S$166). Ticket sales will not be available on-site at the Changi Exhibition Centre, organisers advised.

The Singapore Airshow is Asia’s largest aerospace and defence event. The biennial event officially begins on Feb 16, with government and military delegations as well as senior corporate executives in the aviation industry expected to be in attendance.

CLARIFICATION: In an earlier version of this story, it was reported that the public would get to see the Airbus Group’s A350 XWB. The organisers of the Singapore Airshow have clarified that the A350 XWB will only be there on trade days, and will not be available for public viewing.
