SINGAPORE — A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman died on Monday morning (Feb 20) after losing consciousness in camp – the second case this month.

The army regular lost consciousness at about 8.05am while having his own physical training in Nee Soon Camp. Resuscitative efforts were administered immediately, Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a press release. He was pronounced dead at 9.02am, about 20 minutes after being sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).

He is the second SAF regular to have died while in camp this month. Second Warrant Officer Sim Poh Wah, 44, died after collapsing at Pasir Laba Camp on Feb 10.

“The Ministry of Defence and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late serviceman. The SAF is assisting the family in their time of grief,” MINDEF said.
