SINGAPORE - The Republic is building an inclusive society where everyone can contribute, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at an event today (Oct 31) to support people with special needs.

Mr Lee and his wife Ho Ching joined about 7,000 others who turned up at Hong Lim Park for the Purple Parade. One of the event highlights was donning purple glasses to symbolise opening one’s eyes to people with special needs in the community.

“We all have something to contribute,” said Mr Lee. “And in a different way, each one of us is somehow special, different from the others. I think we should value that and treasure that and work together, take advantage of it so that together we can make Singapore better, and together we can be happy, prosperous and successful as one nation, one Singapore.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
