SINGAPORE: Members of the public can get a sneak peek of Thomson-East Coast Line’s seven new upcoming stations on Jun 21, two days before they open for passenger service.

The event, called Journey through Colours of the East, will run on Jun 21 from 12pm to 9pm, allowing commuters to familiarise themselves with the new Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 4 (TEL4) stations, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Monday (Jun 10).

During the preview event, commuters can enjoy free train rides along the TEL4 stretch, although there will be no through-train connectivity between the existing TEL and TEL4.

Various activities have been lined up, such as a digital treasure hunt called "TEL4 MRT Mysteries: The Treasure Hunt Express", with prizes up for grabs.

A highlight of the preview is Marine Parade station’s Reason to Move Lite gallery exhibition, which aims to inspire everyone to adopt more sustainable modes of transport.

"Located at the concourse level, the public can view 24 uniquely designed visuals showcasing Singaporeans’ reasons to move lite, such as being eco-friendly, having more family time, and enjoying scenic views along the journey," said LTA.

"Visitors can also take part in other exciting booth activities, share their reasons to move lite and see their reasons displayed as creative art pieces within our public transport nodes."

Marine Parade Station also has the Friends of Land Transport Booth, where visitors can try their hand at being a train driver using a TEL train simulator, and a Knackstop pop-up store with exclusive merchandise.

Commuters can get to the TEL4 stations via a free shuttle train service from TEL Gardens by the Bay station to Tanjong Rhu station.

As there is no through-train connectivity from the existing TEL line on the preview day, commuters would need to tap-out at the fare gates next to the Passenger Service Centre and follow the signage. Shuttle trains will run at a frequency of about 8 minutes.

Commuters may also take this shuttle train service to go back to Gardens by the Bay station from Tanjong Rhu station throughout the public preview day.

Another option is to take a train and alight at Circle Line (CCL) Stadium MRT station, which is a 600m walk from Tanjong Rhu Station.

There are also public bus services that stop near the TEL4 stations.

Following the TEL4’s opening for passenger service on Jun 23, trains from Woodlands North to Bayshore will arrive at frequencies of 3 minutes during peak hours and 6 minutes during off-peak hours.

“LTA and SMRT will continue to monitor the train loading and make necessary adjustments based on operational needs,” said LTA.
