S’porean is Asia-Pacific e-racing champion, will next take on world’s best gamers

SINGAPORE — A Singaporean gamer clinched the top prize in a gaming competition in Melbourne on Saturday (Oct 12), and will be on his way to represent the country next month in the grand finals of the competition in the United States.
Mr Ar Muhammad Aleef Mohamed Rafik was crowned the winner of the Logitech G-Challenge e-racing series for the Asia-Pacific region, where he beat seven other racers from countries like New Zealand, Japan and Chinese Taipei.
Mr Aleef, who represented Singapore under the Legion of Racers banner, will go on to Worldwide Grand Finals in the US next month, where he faces competition from regional qualifiers from the US, Latin America and Europe.
Should he succeed at the Worldwide Grand Finals, Mr Aleef stands a chance to compete against some of the best racers in the world in the McLaren Shadow Project, the racing giants’ e-sports competition.
Gamers from around the world are competing for a place at the Grand Final at the McLaren Technology Centre in the United Kingdom on Dec 9-11.
The winner of the McLaren Shadow Project will go on to join the McLaren Shadow e-sports team.
