URA to release final property index data for Q2
The Urban Redevelopment Authority is due to release the final property index data for the second quarter at 8.30am. Preliminary data released at the start of the month showed private home prices falling for an 11th straight quarter in the second quarter of this year, but at a slower rate than previously. They were down an estimated 0.4 per cent for the quarter, compared with a 0.7 per cent decline in the first quarter.
The US Republican convention closes
The Republican convention closes on Friday, with Mr Donald Trump officially accepting the nomination to run for the United States presidency. Mr Trump is also expected to make a major speech outlining his policy proposals at the convention. The billionaire won a thumping victory in statewide party elections, garnering more than 13 million votes — the most of any Republican nominee ever.
Man arrested for Geylang murder to be charged in court
A 64-year-old suspect was arrested on Thursday for the murder of a 52-year-old man, whose body was found in Geylang on July 9. He will be charged in court on Friday. If convicted, the suspect could face the death penalty.
Man Utd meet Dortmund for friendly on Asian tour
Manchester United will play German league side Borussia Dortmund, in the first friendly match of their Asian Tour. The match will pit new signing Henrikh Mikhtaryan against his old club. Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa is also facing his old teammates from Man Utd. The match kicks off at 8pm in Shanghai.
